Want to get involved but not sure what's required?
If you’re interested in competing for the club, please take a look on the site for a list of all upcoming events. Then you can email rebeccahill123@hotmail.co.uk or kellyflewis@hotmail.com or send a text to 07795 564405 to let us know which competitions you are interested in. Bekki or I will send out emails and texts around a month before the competitions to find out who wants to compete. Teams will then be allocated and venue details, teams and times will be emailed in the week before the event.
How much does it cost?
Once you are a club member, the club pays all preliminary entries to the organiser to register our teams. The competitors are then only required to pay the entry fee on the day which for Show Jumping and Dressage is usually around £10 to £12 per person. Hunter Trials and One Day Events vary from about £25 to £35
How does it all work?
Show jumping – There are four riders in a team. Each competitor will jump two rounds, with the best three scores in each round to count for the team total. If one member of a team of four is eliminated in the first round he/she is allowed to jump in the second round.
Hunter Trials – this competition is cross country only with a set “optimum” time to complete the course. A team consists of four riders with the best three scores to count.
Dressage – There are a number of Dressage competitions organised by BRC - the Senior Open Dressage, the Senior Novice Dressage and Junior Dressage. All competitions are for a team of 4 riders, with the best three scores to count. Each rider in a Senior Open Team rides a different test, there are three Novice tests and one elementary. For the Junior dressage - two riders ride the same Prelim Test and the other two ride the same Novice test. Each rider in a senior Novice team rides the same Prelim test.
Horse Trials – There are 5 types of competition – the Senior Open, Senior Intermediate and Senior Novice and Junior event are for teams of four riders with the best threes course to count, also open to individuals. The fifth – the Senior Special Open – is held for individuals only. Most of these are held as one day events, and run in the order of Dressage, Show jumping and cross country. However, for all competitions, team members are automatically entered as individuals also, so if the team does not get placed a team member can still be placed.
